Company History
The year was 1979.
The modular housing industry was just starting to make its name in
the construction world. As a land
developer and owner of successful construction and real estate companies,
the modular industry was something I wanted to add to my resume. I became a builder within the industry,
successfully completing 3 “turn key” modular homes per week
in the state of Connecticut. Nine years later I, Dick Schmidt, felt
it was time to move forward.
The year was 1988.
I purchased Excel Homes, a modular home company in central Pennsylvania. The company consisted of two factories,
one in Liverpool, PA
and the other in Mifflintown,
PA. With both factories running
simultaneously, I found that I could not be in two places at once. In 1992, the decision to close the
Mifflintown plant was made. This
allowed me to focus my attention solely on the Liverpool
location, producing as many as ten modules per day. My dedication to this factory allowed
me to nurture the business that I believe is the future of the housing
industry.
Eleven years later, in 1999, I sold Excel Homes,
however, retaining ownership of the Mifflintown facility. In 2003, the process of re-tooling and
modernizing the factory began.
This would be the future home of ProBuilt Homes Inc. Later that year, the first ProBuilt
Home was produced.
Throughout the years, I have learned that anyone in a
position of leadership is only as good as the people they surround
themselves with. This “fact of life” philosophy has carried
me throughout my career. The same
philosophy is very prominent today at ProBuilt Homes. Our plant produces a high quality home,
from point of sale to delivery.
Our staff is the “best of the best” in the housing
industry. Their passion,
commitment and strong values are the heartbeat of the company. The members of our management team have
been hand selected. I am proud to
say that the ProBuilt team, by far, is the most energetic, innovative and
efficient team there is. We build
the best home in the market today.
The quality, service and turnaround time that we provide to our
family of builders is specialized to increase their profitability. Our highly trained Sales, Engineering,
Order Processing, Purchasing, Production and Quality Assurance Teams are
all dedicated to doing things right the first time.
Just recently, we have finished our new office
building and have supplemented our need for factory space with a 50X90
ft. addition, allowing us increased capacity. We invite all of our builders to visit
our facility, and see first hand, the ProBuilt advantage.
The newest service under the ProBuilt name is: ProBuilt Mortgage LLC. We offer a financing package for the
builder and the home owner. You
will find ProBuilt Mortgage LLC, to be extremely competitive in every
aspect of the financing process.
This process allows our builders to be a “one stop”
shop, making it easier to market and sell their homes. Both our builders and their respective
retail customers will be extremely pleased with the value of ProBuilt
Mortgage LLC.
In closing, I would like to thank all of our current
builders for their past and present business. We value the relationships we have
developed with our builders, and look forward to showing our new builders
the advantages of ProBuilt Homes.
